I’ve been on cloud nine since publishing my first e-book, 5 Simple Ways to Love Gay Christians, in February 2017. The message of the e-book came from my personal experience as a gay Christian and the desire to guide others safely out of their own closet.
Hiding From your Truth Can Be Fatal to Your Dreams
I spent 44 years hiding from the truth. Although my family and friends knew how much I loved God and wanted to serve Him, I felt like I would disappoint others by sharing my struggles. But not being true to myself was living a lie. The moment I accepted myself was like a sudden spring rain washing the pollen off of my car. The true, original color was beautiful and bright. The peace I felt was real and freeing like taking off a heavy coat that covered me all those years. I was able to accept how much God loved me. And best of all, I loved myself again.
Life Is Precious & We All Deserve To Live Our Dreams to the Fullest
My e-book is dedicated in memory of a young woman to whom I’ve given the name Taylor. She died by suicide in June 2015 after an argument with family members about the Marriage Equality Act. There were other issues as well, including depression. I believe she may have struggled with accepting her same-sex attraction while at the same church I attended, while in the closet.
I first met Taylor during a children’s ministry outing. She attended many of the children and teens classes, camps and retreats all the way through high school. While Taylor was in college, I followed her on Facebook. I almost didn’t recognize her at first as she was full of smiles. She obviously felt free to be her true self, while gaining new friendships. She was also studying Plastic Engineering. We will never know the amazing things she could have accomplished in this world and for our environment.
Together We Can Make More Dreams Come True
I regret never taking the opportunity to talk with Taylor about being gay and the struggles within the church that I faced as well. Not wanting others to die too soon, I wrote this book to help friends and families join together in conversation, so lives could be saved. It’s a matter of encouraging, not discouraging others.
Download the free copy here. There are simple actions you can take to support gay Christians without feeling you have to compromise your faith. This e-book calls us all to practice a higher-degree of compassion, love, and acceptance for Christians struggling with same sex attraction. Don’t worry! I’m not trying to change your own beliefs about homosexuality, just adding in a supplement for you.
Share this blog with others so they can download the e-book, too. We must prevent another young life from being taken too soon.
